Five Valleys Chapter
Missoula, Montana
Date January 26, 2005
Dear Friends:
The Five Valleys Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF)
is one of the oldest volunteer chapters not only in Montana, but
also within the United States. This Chapter is also one of the Rocky
Mountain Elk Foundations leading chapters in terms of net
funds raised for support of RMEFs mission of ensuring the
future of elk, other wildlife and their habitat. To date, the Five
Valleys Chapter has raised over $1.1 million towards the mission
of the RMEF.
Our success would not have been possible without your help. We
at the Five Valleys Chapter greatly appreciate the personal efforts
and contributions of local individuals, businesses and organizations
to the mission of RMEF. Your dedication to elk and other wildlife
is duly applauded.
The Five Valleys Chapter is currently assisting with an important
conservation project for those of us in western Montana. This project,
the Elkhorns Initiative, is located southeast of Helena. It is a
five year, 20,000 acre project, which includes the acquisition of
key properties in the Elkhorn Mountains. These acquisitions will
provide year round habitat for bighorn sheep, elk, mule deer, antelope
and many other species of wildlife. Public ownership of this habitat
would prevent residential development, maintain historic agricultural
production and provide public access to the properties as well as
to adjacent public lands.
To help raise funds for the Elkhorns Initiative and other RMEF
projects, the Five Valleys Chapter will be holding its 20th Annual
Big Game Banquet at the Holiday Inn-Parkside in Missoula (200 S
Pattee Street) on Saturday May 7, 2005. If you would like to attend
the banquet and help us celebrate our 20th year anniversary, please
complete the enclosed banquet application form. [ Big
Game Banquet Ticket Application ]
The Holiday Inn-Parkside has graciously set aside rooms for banquet
attendees for $69 plus tax for Saturday, May 7, 2005. The next day
is Mothers Day and they are serving a Mothers Day Brunch
(approximately $20 per person). Enjoy our banquet and do not worry
about driving home, then enjoy Mothers Day Brunch with loved
ones. Reservations for the room and/or the brunch are required by
April 15, 2005. Please call the Holiday Inn-Parkside at 721-8550
to make your reservations.
In addition to the Big Game Banquet, the Five Valleys Chapter will
host the "Sponsor Appreciation Night" at the RMEF National
Headquarters, Thursday April 7, 2005. Donors, Sponsor and Life Members,
and Habitat Partners are invited to this event. It is our way of
saying Thank You.
Success of our Big Game Banquet, the Elkhorns Initiative, and other
RMEF projects is dependent upon the commitment and dedication of
individuals and businesses like yours. How can you help? There are
several ways:
(1) Donate merchandise for our Big Game Banquet, where it will
be used as items in our auction or as prizes for our games and raffles.
(2) Underwrite merchandise that the chapter has already obtained
for the Big Game Banquet. For example, the chapter obtains a framed
print for $100. You underwrite our $100 cost. We auction off the
item to the highest bidder for $200. Since you have underwritten
the item, the entire $200 goes towards the mission of the RMEF,
instead of just $100.
(3) Purchase a Sponsor ($250) or Life Membership ($1000). With
the purchase of either membership, you or your representative will
become eligible to win a Weatherby Vanguard synthetic 300 Win. Mag.
or a Cabelas gift certificate for $450. New Life and Sponsor
Memberships have a one in five opportunity of winning this firearm
or gift certificate.
(4) Cash donation in the amount of your choice directed towards
the Elkhorns Initiative or other RMEF projects.
(5) Become a Habitat Partner ($2,500). The Habitat Partner program
offers you the opportunity to join hundreds of other concerned individuals
and corporations who share our vision and support us in mission
accomplishment. Habitat Partners are central to solving habitat
conservation challenges such as the Elkhorns Initiative.
Another project we are working on is the Building for the
Future campaign, which is the construction of RMEFs
new headquarters here in Missoula. Donors to this campaign that
give $200, $500 or $1,000 will be recognized with sidewalk pavers
at the Elk Country Visitor Center. Gifts of $500 and $1,000 qualify
for additional recognition through our Legacy Partner gift program.
If you are interested in contributing to the Building for
the Future campaign, please let us know.
We hope we can count on you to help with the Elkhorns Initiative
or other RMEF projects. This is truly an opportunity for individuals
and local businesses to do something in our own backyard. If you
have any questions on how you can become part of this effort, please
feel free to contact myself, AJ Michnevich, Chapter Chairman at
825-3676, or Mark Sommer, Co-Chairman at 728-4176.
Sincerely,
AJ Michnevich
